June was so tiring and weird and made me go almost broke.
LIST OF NEWSWORTHY
Started from the top but-
So I started June off well with watching a lot of TV while mentally preparing myself for Ramadan, hot summer weather and being surrounded by a lot more family. I was reading at a fairly normal pace and everything was going good, but then I got sick like you wouldn’t believe. Ramadan is basically the worst time to get sick because I usually don’t sleep all night which is already taxing on the body. Skipping fasts is only allowed if the sickness is severe and mine was mainly leaving me extremely tired and unable to move which meant lying in bed ordering books and being unable to finish the recitation of the Holy Qur’an. Sigh.
When rain tried to reign
One of the weirdest thing to ever get its own heading but it just had to. So our house is one of the oldest on the street which means that overtime, its foundation got considerably lower than almost all the other houses and the road itself on the street. That combined with the driveway that steeps into our house means that rain from the road sometimes floods in. It’s never a big deal because it just drains away, but this time the rain just wouldn’t let up, somehow the drains stopped working and then…rainwater started getting inside the house. There are 5 doors into the house and muddy rainwater coming in from 3 of them. It finally drained away after about 4 hours and there wasn’t a lot of damage except a couple of carpets getting soaked through. However, it was all so stressful as everyone was trying to stop the water from entering the house while fasting and just gah, what a thing to happen.
A happy tidbit
I finally got my Bachelor’s degree! Such a relief. It was hilarious though that when I showed it to my mom and she was all, ‘So it took you 7 years to graduate?’ (since the date on it is the date of issue). I was aghast because I did everything and got all the credit hours on time except the thesis. So technically, I consider it to be 5 years counting all the extra time I had to put into the thesis from hell. I should probably buy books to celebrate.
TV WATCH
Watching only 4 TV shows in a month must be some kind of record for me.
- Gilmore Girls – Finished season 3 and the last episode made me so emotional. I did start season 4, but everything feels weird with Rory not in high school anymore and no Jess.
- Broadchurch – I finally listened to Maraia and watched one of her TV show recs from start to finish. So glad because Broadchurch is great. I think I liked season 2 way more, but both seasons are very painful and just gaaah.
- UnREAL – THIS SHOW IS SO CRAZY AND I LOVE IT. This season the focus seems to be more on the “creators” of the show than the contestants and I’ve to say that I’m liking the change.
- The Legend of Korra – I finished season 1 and started 2 and man, so many feelings all around. ALSO, KORRASAMI HAD THEIR FIRST DATE ON THE RACETRACK. THIS IS CANON.
MOVIE WATCH
Uh, I honestly tried to squeeze at least one movie in and guess I failed.

Not gonna lie, I thought my internet lagged when I tried to scroll through the list of book buys lmao But heeey, you’ve bought Chima’s books. I just took out the first one of the series from the library and I am as excited as I can get (which is not a whole lot, I’m too lazy for even that much) about it.
Maraia says
That list of books. oO But I’m really excited by what you got! Are you planning to start The Demon King soon? I also didn’t realize you had ordered Time Salvager. I hope you like it. 🙂
Congratulations about your Bachelor’s! I’m glad you feel relieved. How long ago did you finish your thesis? I’m so glad I never had to write one. Ick.
YAY, I’m happy that you loved Broadchurch. Now we just have to wait impatiently for the next season…
My June was pretty great, considering where and with whom I spent it. 😀

I really, really have to catch up on Legend of Korra. I attempted to rewatch the first season in the Spring but failed epicly! Need to get on that!
